The working principle of Modbus encoder is based on Modbus protocol, which is a master-slave communication protocol and is mainly used for equipment communication in the field of industrial automation. Modbus encoder, as a slave device, exchanges data with the master device (such as industrial computer or PLC) through serial communication.
Basic concepts of Modbus protocol
Modbus protocol was originally developed by Modicon, which supports various communication modes, including RS232, RS485 and RS422. It is an open communication protocol, which supports the master-slave communication mode, that is, the master device initiates the request actively and the slave device responds. Modbus protocol can be implemented in many ways, including Modbus RTU, Modbus ASCII and Modbus TCP/IP.
Working principle of Modbus encoder
Communication process: Modbus encoder exchanges data with main equipment through serial communication. The master device sends a request frame containing address, function code and data fields, and the encoder performs corresponding operations after receiving the request and returns a response frame.
Data transmission: The encoder reads or writes data after receiving the request from the master device, and returns the response data through the serial line. The data transmission rate is usually between 9600 and 115200 bps.
Error detection: Modbus adopts cyclic redundancy check (CRC) or checksum mechanism to ensure the integrity of transmitted data.
