The working principle of incremental encoder is to output pulse signal by detecting the relative position change of rotating shaft. Its core components include light source (such as LED), grating disk and photoelectric receiver. The grating disk is engraved with transparent and opaque stripes at equal intervals. When the rotating shaft drives the grating disk to rotate, the light shines on the photoelectric receiver through the transparent stripes, generating electrical signals. These electrical signals are output in the form of pulses, and each pulse represents a certain angle or displacement, thus realizing accurate measurement of rotation angle or linear displacement.

1. Robot field: Incremental encoder plays an important role in robot positioning and navigation.
